Irv Chazen: A Legacy of Excellence
For nearly six decades, Irv Chazen dedicated his life to building worry-free, magnificent custom pool showplaces, leaving an indelible mark on the pool-building industry. Over the course of his 59-year career, Irv earned the admiration and trust of 8,000 completely satisfied customers, all without a single complaint. His reputation for excellence and integrity was unmatched, and he was always eager to share the names and addresses of those who experienced his extraordinary work firsthand.
Irv was a trailblazer, expanding his swimming pool building territory from Miami-Dade and Monroe counties to all of Palm Beach County. He was the first swimming pool contractor approved by Sears Roebuck & Company to build new pools and spas under their name, a testament to his exceptional skills and reliability. His work even caught the attention of the national spotlight, with his pools being featured on the TV show “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” presented by Robin Leach. Among his many notable projects, Irv was honored to build pools for legendary football coach Don Shula and the renowned Potemkin estate.
Irv’s portfolio was nothing short of spectacular, including pools with swim-up bars, underwater caves, vanishing infinity edges, fire features on the water’s surface, spas, waterfalls, outdoor kitchens, and even water parks. His expertise extended beyond construction; he served as the expert swimming pool advisor to Miami-Dade County and was a member of the Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board, where he ruled on cases of contractor misconduct.
In addition to his professional achievements, Irv was deeply respected within the industry. He was a former president of the Associated Swimming Pool Industries of Florida, Inc., and received certificates of appreciation from both the National Spa and Pool Institute and the South Florida Building Officials Council. His education from Georgia Technical Institute, which included a doctoral degree in hydraulic engineering and a master’s degree in industrial engineering, further solidified his status as a leader in the field.
A combat veteran, Irv was awarded the North Korean War Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his service to our country. His legacy is one of unparalleled dedication, expertise, and a commitment to excellence that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him or benefiting from his work.

As we honor the extraordinary legacy of Irv Chazen, we proudly welcome Susan as the new leader of Swimming Pool Experts, Inc. Irv’s remarkable accomplishments have set a high standard, and Susan is fully committed to carrying that legacy forward while bringing her own vision and leadership to the company.
Susan steps into her role with a deep respect for the foundation Irv built over nearly 60 years. She is dedicated to upholding the company’s reputation for excellence, while also infusing new energy and ideas to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Under her leadership, Swimming Pool Experts, Inc. will continue to deliver the same high-quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction that have become synonymous with our name.
